Public Safety Field Day
Aurora Rotary Club and Smoky Hill Rotary Club in partnership with Aurora Fire Rescue and Aurora Police Department are hosting a free, family-friendly Public Safety Field Day on Saturday, May 16th from 10:00-1:00 at the City of Aurora Public Safety Training Center, next to the Aurora Fairgrounds. This event is designed to provide hands-on fire and public safety education while offering a behind-the-scenes look at local operations led by Aurora’s firefighters and police officers. Highlights of the event include: a live fire suppression demonstration, K-9 unit and SWAT team demonstrations, CPR and Extraction demonstrations, Hose and Spray activity, Touch a Truck opportunities with fire engines and emergency response vehicles, APD Emergency Command Center Trailer tour, Firefighter and Police Fun-Run for children under 10, and more interactive safety activities.
The event also supports an important community initiative: fundraising for a Mobile Fire Safety Trailer. This mobile trailer will travel to schools and the community to teach children how to safely escape home fires and practice fire prevention strategies. Donations are appreciated to help bring this valuable educational resource to Aurora.
