The historic fishpond in the center of Whitehall was built in 1922 in honor of local WWI veterans.  It has been under the care of the Whitehall Rotary Club since the mid-1950s which includes stocking it each summer with native trout.  Families have been coming to the pond from all over Montana for generations to view the fish.  Club members will help preserve the 114-year-old fishpond structure by performing the following maintenance items:  clean the inside; pressure wash the wood posts for the screened area and canvas cover support beams, seal the ore sample rocks on the center pyramid, repaint the exposed concrete on the pond, and clean the engraved granite tiles on the surrounding sidewalk. Bring work gloves, safety glasses and a smile for several days enjoying the sunshine while sprucing up our beloved fishpond.
