SUPERBUILD MAY 2, 2026

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, The Rotary Club of Antelope Valley sent four club members to support the 2026 Corazon SuperBuild.  In collaboration with other clubs from district 5300, 48 volunteers signed up for this build. The project begins with an early 5:30 AM bus trip from Chula Vista, California to the build site in Tijuana, Mexico.  Unlike other years when the home was constructed in an open flat area, this year’s home would be located on the side of a steep hill.  Workers were separated into painters, framers, plywood prep, and roofers.  All construction materials had to be hauled down the hill from the drop off location.  By 8:30 AM construction was in full swing.  The framework walls were individually laid out.  Sheeting was measured and cut to size for the walls.  The walls were raised into place.  The roof framework was put in place.  The roof sheeting was added and then the shingles were nailed in place.  By 1:00pm, the workers had a well-deserved lunch which was prepared by the family receiving the home. By 3:20 PM the house was completed.  The receiving Family were presented the keys to their new home.  It is a very rewarding experience to see Rotary come together to change lives, one family at a time.
