The Awesome 3000 is a youth foot race for ages 0 - 12th grade that's been running in Salem for 43 years, with all proceeds going to grants for Salem-Keizer school grants. Last year we awarded over $70,000 in grants.

The event has about 3000 participants. Youth in kindergarten - 12th grade run independently in various length races, starting in football stadium, running out into historic Bush Park, and finishing in the stadium in front of the grandstands. Pre-K runners stay in the stadium and run with an adult of their choice. We also have a Unified race in partnership with the school district Unified program that pairs handicap youth runners with handi-capable partners to complete a lap of the stadium.

Volunteers support runners in checking-in, navigating warm-ups and getting to the starting line, keeping kiddos safe (and watered!) on the course out in the park, and cheering them across the finish line and getting connected back with their adults.

IMPORTANT NOTE - All volunteers MUST register before the event at Awesome 3000 Volunteer Registration
