CLACKAMAS ROTARY SMOKE ALARM PROJECT
Mobile homes are especially at risk for fast-moving, life-threatening fires. Working in conjunction with Clackamas Fire District #1 since early 2000 the Clackamas Rotary Foundation and the Rotary Club of Clackamas have helped fund and install more than 3,500 smoke alarms in mobile home parks and single family dwellings in Clackamas County.
On the Epic Day of Service, our club will purchase and install for free smoke alarms at all the homes in the Riverbend Mobile Home Community, 13900 SE Hwy. 212 in Clackamas, OR. It is always a fun-filled, rewarding day of community service.
In 2004 a fire started in a single-family manufactured home. The house was completely destroyed. But no lives were lost because the occupants had been alerted by the smoke alarm installed by Clackamas Rotarians just three years prior. Everyone in the house escaped unharmed.
