Epic Vashon Beach Tire Clean-up
Vashon Rotary Club and Zero Waste Vashon invite you to be part of a global movement of action, impact, and unity on Saturday, May 16, 2026. This EPIC Day of Service will unite more than 2,500 Rotary clubs and 75,000 Rotarians, community volunteers, and partners across the globe in a single day dedicated to making the world a better place. This will be the second EPIC day on Vashon-Maury Island.
Beach tires are an environmental hazard, emitting toxins and killing fish and other aquatic lifeforms. Over 50 club members and community volunteers had loads of fun last year combing Vashon beaches and removing over 542 pounds of beach trash and most importantly, unearthing 127 intertidal tires and moving them by boat and truck for recycling by King County Solid Waste.
We hope to repeat this event this year, culminating with the Epic Day of Service on 16May2026 9AM-3PM. As last year, the Jensen Point Park north of the Boat Ramp will be this year’s staging area, where volunteers can bring any liberated beach tires any time leading up to the 16May event. And on 16 May, volunteers can drop any beach tires and beach trash off at the Jensen Point Canopy for disposal or recycling.
From bustling city centers to remote rural areas, the EPIC Day of Service is a call to action for people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures to come together and tackle some of the most pressing issues facing our communities. Through thousands of coordinated acts of service, this day will demonstrate the true power of collective goodwill and service above self. On Vashon-Maury Island, we will be focusing on those beaches most in need of cleaning up.
