The Great Barwon River Duck Race
Bridge Road
Barwon Heads, VIC 3227
The Great Barwon River Duck Race is held each year on Easter Saturday at Barwon Heads, Victoria, Australia. Plastic ducks are dropped off the pedestrian bridge at Barwon Heads and float upstream to the Ozone Jetty approx 500 meters. The event is run by Ocean Grove Rotary as a fundraising event for local primary schools and other local charities. There are 2500 yellow or adult ducks, 200 blue or preschooler ducks and up to 100 corporate ducks. Local canoe clubs, surf life saving clubs and scouts are involved to guide, collect and clean the ducks which are stored for use the next year. The ducks occasionally are loaned to other Rotary Clubs for their duck races.
